In response to recent attacks by Hamas, Israel has issued a call for all civilians living in the northern half of the Gaza Strip to move south within 24 hours, raising concerns of a potential ground assault. The northern Gaza Strip includes Gaza City, the largest settlement in the region. Israel has reportedly called for the entire population to move south across the wetlands dividing the enclave.
The Israeli military accused Hamas of using civilians as human shields, prompting the evacuation call for Gaza City residents.
As international concerns grow over the situation, there are calls for humanitarian aid and safe zones in Gaza to prevent further escalation. Iran and Hezbollah have warned of potential responses to the conflict, which continues to result in significant casualties on both sides.
