Nigerians are buzzing with mixed feelings as Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), the operator of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), announced an impending increase in tariffs for car parking and lounge services at the facility. The new pricing structure is scheduled to take effect on November 1, 2023, with BASL citing current economic conditions as the driving force behind this adjustment.

Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, the head of the corporate communications department at BASL, explained that the decision to review these charges was made in recognition of the changing economic landscape in the country. She emphasized that the company had delayed this move, showing solidarity with airport terminal users, until it became necessary to ensure smooth and excellent operational services. The tariff adjustments will specifically affect car park and VIP lounge tariffs.
Yinka-Olawuyi reassured the public, stating, “The management of BASL wishes to assure the general public that these changes are essential to support ongoing improvements to our facilities, services, and overall passenger experience at MMA2.”
Kola Bamigboye, head of Spaces and Premises for BASL, elaborated on the rationale behind the car park tariff adjustments. He emphasized that these changes are aligned with efforts to maintain and upgrade parking facilities, making it a safer and more convenient experience for passengers. Notably, the revised tariff structure considers users who spend less than 30 minutes within the multi-story car park facility, aiming to provide added convenience.
Supervisor-In-Charge of Lounge Services at MMA2, Esther Ojeiwa, addressed the changes in VIP lounge access fees. She highlighted that the decision to raise the access fee by 33 percent was driven by the need to maintain top-notch services at the lounge, ensuring a comfortable and convenient experience for travelers seeking relaxation before their flights.
Ojeiwa emphasized the value proposition of the MMA2 VIP lounge, stating, “To further enhance the lounge experience, we have updated our lounge tariffs, offering even greater value for your money.”
