BREAKING: Umahi Promises To Eliminate Ministry’s Internal Adversaries, Pledges To Hand Them Over To ICPC....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

On Tuesday, October 10, the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, issued a stern warning that he would take action against individuals within his ministry who have been colluding with contractors to obstruct government development initiatives.

After meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja, Umahi spoke to journalists and expressed his intention to engage the services of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to prosecute the implicated officials.

The minister had previously raised concerns about resistance from some prominent contractors regarding the federal government’s plan to implement a policy advocating the use of concrete reinforcement in road construction nationwide. However, he revealed that President Tinubu now supports the adoption of this new policy.

Umahi addressed questions from journalists and pointed out that individuals within the ministry who benefit from those opposing him and the government’s new direction have become a significant issue. He stated, “I will flush those elements out and send them to ICPC to handle them because nobody can hold this country to ransom.”

He also noted that some have embraced the policy, and major cement producers have agreed to offer discounts to government road builders. Umahi emphasized the advantages of cement roads over asphalt/bitumen, including lower costs and the promotion of local cement production over bitumen importation.

Furthermore, Umahi cautioned contractors against deceptive practices of securing numerous projects but only deploying a minimal number of equipment units to the construction sites.
