Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), has refuted allegations of forming an alliance with Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, firmly reaffirming his allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement released on Monday, the minister described the accusations as groundless and an attempt to tarnish his reputation.

Lokpobiri’s Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Nneamaka Okafor, stressed that these allegations were aimed at damaging his image as a staunch supporter of the APC candidate, Timipre Sylva, in the November 11 governorship election.

The statement emphasized, “These baseless allegations suggest that Senator Lokpobiri and Chief David Lyon have formed an alliance with the PDP Governor Douye Diri. We categorically state that these allegations lack credibility and are merely propaganda.”

It continued, “Senator Lokpobiri’s dedication to the APC’s principles and values is unquestionable, and he remains steadfast in his commitment to the party’s success in Bayelsa State.”

The statement further noted, “Senator Lokpobiri has consistently championed unity and cohesion within the State chapter of the APC and has been at the forefront of promoting the party’s agenda in Bayelsa State. Any insinuations to the contrary are unfounded and untrue.”

It concluded by attributing these false allegations to individuals and groups with no genuine concern for Bayelsa State’s welfare. Instead, they felt threatened by Senator Lokpobiri’s strong and cordial relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which aims to bring progress and development to the state’s people.
