Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has stirred up a storm on social media with his recent declaration regarding car ownership within his record label, Zeh Nation. Nigerians have taken to various online platforms to express their opinions on this matter.
In a shocking revelation, Portable asserted that any cars purchased for his artists under the Zeh Nation record label do not belong to the artists but are, in fact, the property of the record label itself. This statement has raised eyebrows and ignited debates across social media platforms.

The controversy began when Portable gifted a brand-new Mercedes Benz to his new signee, Abuga, and shared photos of the luxurious vehicle along with a WhatsApp chat message confirming that it was for Abuga. This generous gesture was met with applause and excitement from fans.
However, Portable took things a step further during an Instagram live session with his fans, emphasizing that the cars he buys for his artists are not personal gifts but assets of the record label. He defended his stance by asserting that his artists have not earned more than N70,000 since joining Zeh Nation, even though they have been presented with multi-million Naira cars.
In his own words, Portable stated, “Do you know how many record labels that have signed Abuga before I signed him and gave him fame? Use your brain bro. No enviousness. No ripping. Zeh Nation. However, I will collect all the cars I bought for Youngiduu and Abuga when they leave Zeh Nation. The cars are the record label’s properties. I’m the one promoting the record label. I’m the top artist of the record label. I’m the one making all the money for the record label.”
Nigerians have taken to social media to react to Portable’s bold assertion, and opinions are divided. Some argue that it is within the artist’s rights to own the cars gifted to them as a sign of appreciation, while others side with Portable’s perspective, suggesting that the cars are investments made by the label and should be returned if the artists choose to depart.
This controversy has once again highlighted the complex relationship between artists and their record labels in the Nigerian music industry, prompting discussions on fair treatment, contracts, and ownership of assets. As the debate rages on, it remains to be seen how this situation will ultimately unfold within Zeh Nation and the wider music industry.
