The Real Life Mathematics Initiative, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, has come together to recognize and commend the remarkable achievements of teachers. Awards were presented to outstanding educators in an effort to appreciate their hard work and provide motivation.
During the second edition of the “Celebrating Teachers Excellence and Award” event held at Junior Secondary School Wuse Zone 3 in Abuja, Mr. Joshua Ibeazor, the convener of the initiative, emphasized the significant contributions of teachers in Nigeria and the need to celebrate them appropriately.
Mr. Ibeazor acknowledged the tremendous efforts of Nigerian teachers who often work with limited resources, highlighting challenges such as the absence of proper seating for students and inadequate internet facilities for digital learning, especially in government schools. Despite these obstacles, teachers consistently give their best.
He expressed hope for positive change and stressed the importance of celebrating teachers as a means of instilling hope and recognizing their dedication.
Mr. Ibeazor also underscored the importance of private organizations collaborating with the government to support teacher welfare, inspire educators, and motivate them to make even greater contributions to society.
The permanent secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mr. Olusade Adesola, represented by Mrs. Magdalene Uzoanya, the director of School Services in the Education Secretariat, emphasized the value of appreciating and supporting teachers in their continuous efforts. She acknowledged teachers as the architects of the future and recognized their positive impact on the lives of children and the nation as a whole.
Ms. Hephzibah Ejele, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) chairman of JSS Wuse Zone 3, called upon both the government and the private sector to provide their utmost support to teachers. She believed that with such support, the future of the younger generation would undoubtedly be brighter.
