The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police for Zone Six in Calabar, Jonathan Towuru, has officially confirmed the arrest of individuals suspected to be affiliated with the Supreme Vikings confraternity (SVC).

Towuru reported that a team led by ACP Emeka Onyekaba successfully apprehended these suspected cult members.

In an official statement signed by the Zonal Public Relations Officer (PRO), SP Nelson Okpabi, it was stated, “The ACP Emeka Onyekaba led X-Squad on the 23rd of September, 2023, at approximately 1530hrs, while conducting a stop and search operation along Etinan road in Akwa Ibom State, intercepted two individuals, namely Peter God’swill Edet, aged 23, and Ekemini David Umoh, aged 25, both residing at No. 7 Peter Uboh Street, Abak road, Uyo. The interception took place while they were riding a motorcycle and in possession of two locally made pistols and a live cartridge.”

Okpabi explained that these suspects, dressed in black attire, were returning from the burial ceremony of their fellow member, known as ‘Aro Holy,’ in Nsit Ubiom, Akwa Ibom State, when they were apprehended.

According to the statement, during the subsequent interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of the Supreme Vikings confraternity (SVC). Furthermore, they revealed that they had received the pistols from an individual named Samuel, whose full identity remains unknown. The pistols were intended to be taken to Ekom Imam junction in Uyo.

The statement concluded by noting, “Discreet investigation into the case is ongoing, and the suspects will be arraigned in court at the conclusion of the investigation.”

AIG Jonathan Towuru, from Zone 6 Headquarters in Calabar, urged the law-abiding citizens of the Zone to provide credible information to the police, thereby assisting in the eradication of criminals from society.
