The Northern Emancipation Network (NEN) has expressed strong disapproval of the alleged actions of violent politicians and has drawn attention to the absence of any action taken against Kogi State SDP governorship candidate, Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, whom it accuses of being involved in an attack on APC supporters and of undermining security efforts.

The group has voiced its concerns over the fact that, despite these serious accusations, Yakubu remains at liberty, which sends a troubling message that some individuals are exempt from legal consequences.
Suleiman Abbah, the Coordinator of NEN, issued a statement in Abuja, highlighting that this lack of action erodes public confidence in the justice system and sets a dangerous precedent. He emphasized that the group is urging the police to conduct a thorough investigation and, if Yakubu is found to be culpable, to ensure he faces justice.
Abbath stated, “Failure to do so would not only jeopardize the integrity of the justice system but also inflict further pain on the families of those affected by Yakubu’s alleged crimes. NEN calls on the police to act promptly to ensure justice is served and to reestablish trust in the rule of law.”
NEN recognizes the far-reaching consequences of political violence, including the loss of life and property damage. The group asserts that it will not passively tolerate unpunished violence and lawlessness.
In conclusion, NEN demands greater accountability from politicians, especially those accused of engaging in violence. They firmly believe that no one should be exempt from the law, regardless of their social status or position.
Abbath further urged political leaders and elected representatives to prioritize justice for victims and recommit to addressing the underlying causes of political violence. According to an official statement released on Thursday by the Head of the DOS, Mazi Chikadibia Edoziem, the decision was finalized during a plenary meeting of the Directorate held on Wednesday. The DOS has now assumed full administrative control over the organization’s operations.

The group emphasized that IPOB was established by a collective of Biafrans in the Diaspora, rather than any single individual, and asserted that no one holds the authority to dismantle the DOS, which remains the group’s highest decision-making body.
