Accusations Of Deception Surround Governor Uzodinma’s Promise Of 4,000 Overseas Jobs....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Kemdi Opara, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) gubernatorial candidate in the upcoming November 11 Imo State election, has criticized Governor Hope Uzodinma’s promise to send 4,000 Imo youths to Europe and Canada for employment opportunities, labeling it as a deceptive tactic.

Opara’s sentiments were conveyed through a statement issued on Monday by his Deputy Director of Media and Communications, Michael Anyanwu.

Governor Uzodinma, who is seeking re-election under the All Progressives Congress (APC), had pledged during a campaign event that 4,000 Imo youths would secure jobs in Europe by December of this year. He also promised to aid Imo indigenes interested in relocating to Europe or Canada by equipping them with the necessary employable skills for a smoother transition.

In response, Opara contended that such a promise only ridicules the severe unemployment crisis faced by the state’s youth. He asserted that it serves as evidence that Uzodinma’s administration has let down the youth and the people of Imo.

Opara further pledged to enhance the state’s industrial capacity and transform it into an attractive investment destination if elected as Imo State governor. He also outlined plans to establish well-equipped Skill Acquisition Centers across all 27 local government areas in the state, where youths can receive training in various skills such as tailoring, fashion design, leatherwork (including shoe and bag making), carpentry, welding, electrical work, mechanical work, and more.

He stated, “If granted the mandate to serve as Governor of the State, my vision and commitment are to bolster the state’s industrial capacity and turn it into an investment-friendly hub and business destination that will attract both local and foreign investors. These investors will collaborate with my administration and the private sector to develop various sectors of the state’s economy, thereby creating essential employment opportunities for Imo’s youth.”

Opara also emphasized his commitment to ensuring access to financial resources for the youth, as well as redirecting government procurement and contracts towards utilizing services provided by the state’s skill acquisition centers.
