Supporters of the Labour Party (LP) in Imo State are calling for the replacement of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, expressing concerns about his alleged compromise. Protesters gathered at the state office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), holding banners and placards while demanding a credible and fair election in preparation for the November 11 governorship polls.

The protesters insist that the REC should be replaced to ensure a level playing field. The Imo State LP Chairman, Callistus Ihejiagwa, emphasized their desire for a free and fair election and called for the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machine to ensure the integrity of the process.

In response, INEC’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity Department, Emmanuel Opara, assured the public that the commission is committed to resisting any attempts to compromise the electoral process and ensuring that the upcoming election is conducted fairly and credibly.

Additionally, the Labour Party (LP) has criticized Governor Hope Uzodinma’s promise to help 4,000 youths secure jobs in Europe and Canada, labeling it as insulting and deceitful. The LP stated that the governor has failed to provide basic employment opportunities for the state’s youth and criticized his pledge to assist Imo indigenes in relocating abroad with the necessary employable skills.

Yunusa Tanko, the spokesman for the LP Presidential Campaign Council, noted that the party’s governorship candidate in Imo, Senator Athan Achonu, is committed to creating jobs within the state rather than making empty promises of overseas employment.

Following Arsenal’s heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in Saturday’s Champions League final in Budapest, Gunners manager Mikel Arteta has labeled the French champions as the best team in the world. Despite a strong Premier League-winning campaign, Arsenal fell short of securing their first-ever Champions League title, prolonging their 20-year wait for European glory.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Arteta acknowledged PSG’s dominance throughout the match, particularly their possession and relentless pressure. “I want to congratulate PSG, Luis in particular, because in my opinion they are the best in the world,” Arteta stated. He praised their ball control and individual brilliance, noting that PSG forced Arsenal to defend extensively. Despite taking an early lead through Kai Havertz, Arsenal conceded a second-half penalty converted by Ousmane Dembele, leading to the dramatic shootout conclusion. PSG’s victory marks their second consecutive Champions League title, solidifying their European dominance.

Arteta also expressed dissatisfaction with a penalty decision involving Noni Madueke that was not awarded when the score was tied. However, he emphasized that Arsenal still needs to improve to compete with Europe’s elite. “The same progression that we had in the last few years, we’re going to have to do that over again, and the level is increasing every single season,” Arteta said. He urged his team to use the pain of defeat as motivation to elevate their game and eventually overcome top European clubs like PSG.

During a meeting of a coalition featuring members from both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Port Harcourt, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike issued a stern warning to governors from other states to refrain from meddling in Rivers State politics.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Wike cautioned that those who interfere in the state’s internal affairs are inviting conflict, referencing previous warnings he issued about the consequences of such actions. He reminded his audience of his past declarations that any outside influence attempting to destabilize Rivers State would face “fire,” and he challenged those who had previously tried to interfere to consider if they had successfully escaped those consequences.

Furthermore, Wike addressed those he believes may be emboldened by the funds currently available to certain states, advising them to be cautious and warning that “trouble is on the way” to their respective states if they continue to involve themselves in Rivers’ political landscape. While emphasizing that the people of Rivers State are peaceful, he maintained that they will react if provoked, noting that while other states are currently grappling with internal conflicts within the PDP and APC, Rivers remains stable and celebratory. He concluded by urging external actors not to disturb a state he described as “blessed”.

“Rescue Mission”: Peter Obi Unveils Massive Strategy To Save Nigeria’s Economy.

Following his official selection as the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general elections, Peter Obi has detailed his strategy to combat Nigeria’s pressing challenges of unemployment and corruption.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Obi highlighted the critical need to support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to drive economic growth and job creation. He argued that the official unemployment rate of 4% does not reflect the reality on the ground, pointing out that actual unemployment and underemployment figures surpass 30%, with youth unemployment exceeding 40%—some of the highest rates in the world. To address this, he proposed an aggressive strategy to bolster MSMEs through specialized interest rates, targeted tax incentives, and improved access to funding across key sectors including agriculture, manufacturing, sports, entertainment, and distribution.

Regarding his approach to governance and corruption, the former Anambra State governor promised a measurable and verifiable reduction in systemic graft and the baseline costs of running the government. He committed to managing public funds with total transparency, accountability, and prudence, ensuring that every government expenditure provides clear, demonstrable value to the Nigerian people.
