Governor Yahaya, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, emphasized the government’s dedication to providing the necessary resources and support required to achieve this objective. He highlighted the deliberate efforts to establish visitation panels to gain a comprehensive understanding of the state’s higher institutions’ situations and identify areas requiring intervention to align them with global best practices.
The Governor stressed that visitation panels play a vital role in the administration of higher institutions and provide a comprehensive assessment of the educational situation. He noted that the government had focused on basic education, including primary and secondary schools, in the past four years, achieving significant improvements in students’ performance in WAEC and NECO exams.
With these achievements, the administration now shifts its focus to higher institutions, aiming to systematically enhance effective teaching and learning for Gombe State’s overall development. Governor Yahaya assured panel members that the government would thoroughly review the reports and implement the recommendations within available resources.
Presenting the report, the panel’s chairman, Professor Mohammed Gurama Dukku, highlighted the rigorous work, extensive deliberation, consultations with stakeholders, engagement with relevant documents, and physical observations that contributed to the report. He expressed gratitude to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for entrusting them with this responsibility and assured their readiness to serve the state in any capacity, with hopes that their report would guide future policies for the development of the state college of education and the overall education sector in Gombe State.

The Federal Government has provided clarification regarding the Transfer of Sentenced Persons Agreement signed with Ethiopia. -
Clarification on Inmate Numbers: Minister Odumegwu-Ojukwu dismissed a viral list claiming there are 136 Nigerian inmates, clarifying that the agreement actually covers 98 prisoners located across two maximum-security facilities, Kaliti and Aba Samuel.

Humanitarian Rationale: The transfer aims to address the precarious conditions faced by these inmates, which include poor feeding, health challenges, lack of medical facilities, denial of visitation rights, and language barriers.
