The abduction of female students from the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State has been attributed to an enraged bandit kingpin who felt marginalized.
As reported by Daily Trust, this bandit leader resorted to kidnapping the students as a means to express his frustration over being excluded from negotiations between various teams purportedly sent by the Federal Government to engage with different factions of bandits in Zamfara.

According to an insider cited by the newspaper, the bandit kingpin felt snubbed by the negotiating teams who interacted with other groups of bandits but failed to include him.
In response to this perceived neglect, he took it upon himself to demonstrate his influence by organizing the abduction. Together with his supporters, they raided the university hostel and nearby residences, abducting an unspecified number of students and locals.
The attack on the university occurred during the early hours of September 21, resulting in the abduction of female students who were taken into the nearby forests.
Presently, fourteen students have been successfully rescued, while others remain missing. Notably, the bandits have not made any public ransom demands, and the exact count of kidnapped students has yet to be confirmed.
