In an effort to alleviate the economic hardships faced by the local population, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, representing APC-Oyo South, has distributed food items valued at N35 million to over 3,000 widows within the district. Senator Alli shared this information during a three-day program designed to provide support to widows from the nine local governments comprising Oyo South.
Earlier, the senator had distributed these food items to widows from three local governments within the Ibarapa zone of the senatorial district during an event held in Eruwa. He reiterated his commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises and emphasized that the program aimed to deliver the benefits of democracy to the people.

Senator Alli stated, “I decided that after reaching out to markets, we should now reach out to the widows. We have decided that it should be across the senatorial district. For this, in the last three days, the total expenditure has exceeded N35 million, and by the end of it, over 3,000 widows across the senatorial district will benefit. We are just beginning, this is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many plans in place for our people in areas like education, health, infrastructure, and other sectors.”
The lawmaker also urged other political officeholders and individuals of means to extend their assistance to the community to help mitigate the impact of the ongoing economic challenges.
Senator Alli emphasized, “As members of the National Assembly, we’ve not been given any palliative to give to our people, but I decided on my own. I will implore others to also please let’s do the same. I will advise other politicians to reach back to our people at home and also let us cushion the effect of the hardship our people are going through. We must assist the government in cushioning the effect of the hardship on our people.”
Senator Alli also commented on the removal of fuel subsidies, suggesting that it is a necessary step to prevent increased national debt.
Additionally, the senator has inaugurated ICT centers and other projects in the area, earning praise from local leaders and beneficiaries for his generosity and commitment to their welfare.
