As part of measures to ensure the safety and security of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during the Independence Anniversary celebration, the FCT Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Olusola Odumosu, has deployed over 3000 personnel. Their mission is to safeguard both the citizens and critical infrastructure within the FCT.
Odumosu has provided assurance that the 63rd Independence Anniversary Celebration will proceed without any disruptions or security issues throughout the duration of the event and beyond. He emphasized that various strategic departments and units, including those at the command headquarters, area commands, and divisional offices, have been instructed to maintain a strong security presence and visibility in the city center, satellite towns, and other areas of the FCT.
Routine patrols and confidence-building efforts will also be conducted in different parts of the FCT, particularly in public places like markets, parks, recreational centers, and places of worship, to prevent any attempts by hostile individuals or groups to disrupt the peaceful celebrations.
Odumosu reiterated the NSCDC’s unwavering commitment to combating criminal activities in the Federal Capital Territory, aligning with the vision and mission of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
In addition, he directed his officers and personnel to collaborate closely with other security agencies, including the police, Department of State Security (DSS), the Armed Forces, and other paramilitary agencies operating within the FCT, to ensure the overall peace and security of all residents.

Key Recommendations: The committee urged the NFF to develop separate strategic plans for men’s and women’s football, standardize player rewards, streamline early preparations, restrict Congress members to a maximum of two terms, and display the political will necessary to implement practical reforms.
