Following an ex-parte application submitted at the Code of Conduct Tribunal on February 23, 2019, former President Muhammadu Buhari removed Onnoghen from his position as CJN, as reported by THE WHISTLER.
Onnoghen’s troubles began when the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) charged him with submitting a false assets declaration.
Although Onnoghen eventually left his position, in 2021, he admitted that the period he spent facing those charges represented “his dark days as a public officer.”
During the conference, justices from across the country have the opportunity to network and discuss the best approaches to ensuring justice.
Prominent legal figures, including the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi SAN, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike SAN, are in attendance at the ongoing event.
Additionally, former Appellate Court justices are also present in significant numbers.
