Unuakhalu explained that the rescue mission unfolded when the troops stationed at the Udi checkpoint received an urgent distress call from the police regarding the incident. The army spokesperson further disclosed that during the subsequent pursuit of the fleeing gang, the troops discovered the victim, Dr. Ayim, abandoned by the kidnappers. Dr. Ayim was promptly rescued and later reunited with his family following preliminary medical assessments.

Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA II has called upon law-abiding citizens in Enugu and the broader South-East region to continue providing timely, credible, and reliable information to assist in curbing the escalating incidents of kidnapping and other criminal activities in the area. The operation reaffirmed its commitment to combatting crime in accordance with the established rules and regulations governing its operations.
