The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has decided to extend the submission deadline for applications and entries into the 2023 Talent Hunt via Hackathon until Saturday, September 30, 2023, as disclosed by Reuben Muoka, the Director of Public Affairs at NCC.

The competition has invited Tech Hubs and Innovation-Driven Enterprises (IDEs) in Nigeria to register their startups and solutions in the NCC Talent Hunt Research, which focuses on three thematic areas: Blockchain-enabled Data Protection Solutions for Enhancing Regulatory Compliance, Assistive Technology Solutions for the Elderly and People with Disabilities, and Technology Solutions for Renewable Energy in Rural Areas.
The NCC Talent Hunt Research through Hackathon leverages Emerging Digital Technologies to promote the creation of innovative solutions and local content in the telecommunications sector, contributing to economic growth and social progress in Nigeria. The top three solutions, one from each of the three thematic areas, will receive grants of N10 million each for their development.
Eligibility criteria for participants include providing a certificate of registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), not having received previous support from the Commission, clear relevance to one of the three thematic areas, a well-defined problem statement, proposed solution, and deployment plan.
Other requirements encompass proof of concept, ownership of intellectual property, a timeline for prototype development, and a detailed commercialization plan. All applications should adhere to the specified entry format, be submitted online, and entail no financial cost. Participants retain full control and ownership of their intellectual property.
Interested enterprises should submit the required documents as a zip folder to the provided link with the subject of the email titled “Submission from <business name>” and the zipped file named after the business. The deadline for submissions has been extended to September 30, 2023.
