The decision to assess the daily traffic situation on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway was prompted by public outcry due to the reemergence of severe congestion around the Mile-2 vicinity. This congestion has been exacerbated by indiscriminate truck parking, resulting in significant hardships for other motorists and local residents who use the same road.

Motorists and other road users have been forced to endure lengthy delays as trucks occupy the entire road, and some law enforcement personnel have been accused of extortion.

Accompanying the governor on the tour were members of the State Executive Council, including the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, the Commissioner for the Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, and various other senior officials.
