On Friday in Abeokuta, individuals claiming to be loyalists of former Governor Ibikunle Amosun who belonged to a political party rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State.
The state’s governor, Dapo Abiodun, welcomed these members, who hailed from all 20 local government areas (LGAs) of the state, at the Presidential Lodge in Abeokuta. He praised them for their unwavering “loyalty” and commitment to their convictions.
“I want to commend your unwavering loyalty to leadership, which I must say is not only praiseworthy but also admirable,” Governor Abiodun stated. “This is a culture that we must promote and firmly establish. It’s a culture that’s rapidly disappearing. Loyalty stands at 100 percent. While some others tend to switch sides when things don’t go their way, you remained steadfast. This sense of loyalty is worth emulating.

The governor emphasized the significance of having a single leader in a political party at any given time and expressed his commitment to working for the welfare of party members, both individually and collectively.
He urged all members to leave the past behind and focus on repositioning the party to achieve its objectives and contribute to the socio-economic development of the state.
“It’s with the same joy that the father of the biblical prodigal son welcomed his lost son back home that I welcome you today,” Governor Abiodun stated. “To those who never left, let us embrace our returning brothers and sisters. To those joining us, let’s demonstrate loyalty. I assure you, you’ll be fully integrated.”
Yemi Sanusi, the State Chairman of APC, emphasized that disagreements are common in human relationships and called for peaceful conflict resolution, even during times of discord. He encouraged the returnees to fully integrate themselves with other party members.
The leader of the returning group, Derin Adebiyi, expressed their collective decision to return to the “mainstream” to contribute to the party’s development and the progress of the state. He expressed gratitude to the governor and party members for their warm reception.
