Cudos To Borno’s Transporters: Petrol Price Lowered To N430/Litre By Philanthropists
Cudos To Borno’s Transporters: Petrol Price Lowered To N430/Litre By Philanthropists....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In response to the impact of the fuel subsidy removal in Borno State, commercial tricycle operators (Keke NAPEP) and taxi drivers are receiving petrol palliatives from generous donors. This initiative aims to alleviate the challenges faced by these drivers, who have struggled to maintain their businesses following the introduction of 70 metro buses charging passengers only N50 per drop in the Maiduguri metropolis.
The State government’s provision of these buses has caused a decline in transportation fares in Maiduguri and its surrounding areas, making it difficult for commercial tricycle riders to sustain their livelihoods. To address this issue, philanthropists have stepped in by collaborating with filling stations in the State capital to sell petrol at N430 per litre, a reduced price compared to the official rate of N637 in Borno State.

Ibrahim Jibrin Mohammed, who operates several filling stations in the State, expressed his motivation for this initiative, inspired by the actions of the First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, who has been supporting the impoverished and disaster victims nationwide.
“What you are witnessing here is the commencement of the petrol palliative to mitigate the impact of subsidy removal, and we plan to replicate this effort in six states across the country’s geopolitical zones. We will also hold a similar one-day sale in Kano for the North-West, Abuja for the North-Central, Lagos for the South-West, Port Harcourt for the South-South, and Enugu for the South-East,” he announced.

The fuel palliative event took place at two petrol stations and drew an unprecedented number of motorists and tricycle operators seeking subsidized fuel. A representative of the philanthropist, Abba Kaka Hassan, explained that the intervention aimed to complement the government’s efforts in alleviating the hardships faced by the masses.
This support comes at a critical time when citizens are grappling with the consequences of the fuel subsidy removal. Keke NAPEP operator Yakub Bukar expressed gratitude for the timely assistance and urged other well-to-do individuals to emulate this philanthropic effort for the betterment of society.
Ashaya Aklahyel, another beneficiary, shared how the intervention had relieved their financial burden, particularly when they incurred losses due to a lack of passengers.
Isyaka Ado, the State Secretary of Keke NAPEP Participants/Riders Development Association, praised the philanthropists for the petroleum palliative, noting its positive impact on tricyclists facing hardship in the state. He called upon the affluent members of society to replicate such initiatives, ensuring that both drivers and commuters benefit from their generosity.

Highlighting the massive financial investments directed into the power sector during Atiku’s time in office alongside former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Sowore pointed out that millions of citizens still suffered through persistent electricity shortages.
