He underscored Tinubu’s unparalleled democratic credentials, including his legislative experience, which would continue to influence and enrich the President’s governance approach.
Shettima emphasized the significance of Nigeria’s demographic trends, highlighting that one in every four black individuals is Nigerian. He stressed that Nigeria stands at the forefront of global growth, and by 2050, it is poised to become the world’s third most populous nation.
“Our population is projected to reach 440 million, and by the close of this century, Nigeria will be the most populous nation on earth. The question is, what will we do with this anticipated demographic surge?” Shettima queried.
He conveyed optimism about the potential for Nigeria to transform this demographic shift into a demographic dividend, considering the nation’s blessed status. Shettima expressed confidence in the leadership’s ability to prevent it from turning into a democratic crisis that could engulf the nation.
The vice president underscored Nigeria’s role as the representative of the Black community, emphasizing that the country bears the responsibility of representing the collective interests of Black people. He urged all to strive towards making Nigeria a success.
Earlier, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, emphasized that the true measure of government policies and programs lies in their capacity to tangibly improve the lives and circumstances of citizens.
