On Wednesday, a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft operating as part of Operation Hadin Kai carried out an airstrike in Baranga village, Marte Local Government Area of Borno State, resulting in the destruction of a gun truck and the neutralization of eight terrorists.

According to Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for NAF, this precision strike occurred during an armed reconnaissance mission conducted by the troops in the region. It was a crucial part of the ongoing efforts to combat the remaining terrorists in the North East.

Gabkwet explained that the opportunity for the strike arose when two armed terrorists riding a motorcycle were observed along an active track. Upon spotting the aircraft, the terrorists sought cover beneath dense vegetation. Suddenly, a gun truck carrying eight terrorists emerged and attempted to flee upon realizing the presence of the aircraft.

Consequently, the aircraft engaged the gun truck, resulting in its destruction and the elimination of the terrorists.

Gabkwet emphasized that remnants of terrorists in the Northeast frequently utilize thick forests and vegetation to avoid detection by the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies. He underscored that this strike underscores the Armed Forces’ commitment to preventing terrorists from freely roaming about and attacking law-abiding Nigerians.
