In a renewed effort to protect schools across the country from kidnappings and other security threats, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has initiated a specialized team of personnel known as the Safe Schools Response Team, operating under the National Safe Schools Response Coordination Center (NSSRCC).

Dr. Ahmed Audi, the Commandant General of the Corps, emphasized that this dedicated response team has the exclusive responsibility of safeguarding all schools, which are deemed critical national assets and infrastructure. He made this announcement during a Capacity Building Programme for the Safe Schools Response Team, titled ‘Exercise Safe Schools 2023,’ held in Makurdi, Benue state.

December was the deadliest month, with 41 crashes affecting 433 people, causing 28 fatalities and 266 injuries.
