Addressing the recent violence that displaced residents and claimed lives in the Lafagu, Buya, and broader Kaoje communities, the governor emphasized that his administration is coordinating closely with security forces to track down and arrest the attackers.

In a press statement released Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, the governor shared his grief over the tragedy:

“I received with profound sadness and deep concern the unfortunate incidents that occurred around Kaoje, particularly in the Lafagu and Buya communities, which resulted in the loss of lives, including the death of the Village Head of Lafagu, Alhaji Saidu Mujeli.”

Shehu further pointed to other major security breaches, referencing the reported killing of 61 civilians and security personnel in Shiroro Local Government Area in April, over 30 deaths in Borgu Local Government Area in August, and persistent weekly attacks across Borgu, Shiroro, and Rafi. Citing EUAA data based on ACLED records, he claimed that 1,058 people were killed in the state between January 2024 and December 2025.

Accusing Governor Bago of prioritizing political ambitions, re-election campaigns, dancing Buga, and demonstrating total loyalty to President Tinubu over the safety of citizens, Shehu stressed that the governor must answer for every single life lost and every public fund managed or mismanaged during his tenure.
