Since Karim Benzema’s departure last summer, the No.9 shirt at Real Madrid has remained vacant. However, it’s reported that Mbappe’s tenure with this number might be temporary.

Le Parisien suggests that Mbappe is closely associated with the No.7 at club level and the No.10 at the international level throughout his career.

Currently, Vinicius Jr holds the No.7 shirt for Real Madrid, while Luka Modric wears the No.10.

Considering Modric’s intention to extend his contract by one year, Mbappe may need to exercise patience. By the 2025/2026 season, it’s speculated that Mbappe could inherit the coveted No.10 shirt at Real Madrid, following the lineage of esteemed players like Luis Figo, Clarence Seedorf, Ricardo Gallego, and Ferenc Puskas.
