NDLEA Officer Francis Ameh Igonoh Wins Global Award And Promotion
Francis Ameh Igonoh, a Superintendent of Narcotics with Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has been honored with the prestigious International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) Outstanding Operational Success Award for 2024. During a ceremony where Igonoh presented his award certificates, Marwa praised his contributions to the NDLEA and Nigeria’s efforts to combat substance abuse and drug trafficking. Marwa highlighted Igonoh’s role in disrupting fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine cartels, acknowledging the support of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in these operations.
Marwa emphasized the significance of Igonoh’s work, stating, “The sacrifice of a narcotic officer cannot be quantified in gold or silver, for he is fulfilling a higher calling.” He noted that each drug seizure makes Nigerian streets safer and affirmed the NDLEA’s commitment to rewarding excellence within its ranks.
Promotion Details:
- Igonoh has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Commander of Narcotics.
- This promotion precedes his scheduled elevation to Chief Superintendent of Narcotics, further motivating him and his peers.
The award certificate, signed by Harward Lampley, Director of the West Africa Regional Training Center, commended Igonoh’s dedication and the effective application of skills acquired from ILEA training. It praised his efforts in combating transnational organized crime and enhancing regional and global security.
