In a statement released in Abeokuta on Friday, NANS National President Pedro Obi emphasized the need for appointing individuals with unquestionable integrity and competence to oversee the loan disbursement. This move, he stated, is essential for the scheme’s success and sustainability.

NANS also addressed the alleged deportation of Nigerian students from Teesside University in the UK due to unpaid school fees, calling for immediate federal action to protect the rights and futures of these students.

While praising the Bola Tinubu administration for initiating the student loan scheme, NANS called for the engagement of all relevant stakeholders in its implementation. According to the student body, a properly managed loan scheme could alleviate financial burdens for students and families and reduce the need for Nigerian students to study abroad.

The statement read: “To ensure the success and integrity of the student loan scheme, we urge the federal government to prioritize transparency and accountability in the disbursement of the loans by engaging all relevant stakeholders.”

NANS outlined several key recommendations:

  • Appointment of Competent Overseers: The government should appoint individuals from diverse backgrounds, including academia, finance, and civil society, to ensure a balanced and fair administration of the loans.
  • Effective Monitoring Mechanisms: Transparent and effective monitoring mechanisms, including regular audits, public reporting, and feedback channels, should be put in place to track the disbursement process and address any issues or irregularities.
  • Inclusivity and Accessibility: The loan scheme should be inclusive and accessible to all eligible students, with clearly defined and communicated criteria for loan eligibility and repayment terms to avoid ambiguity or discrimination.

NANS expressed confidence that with careful planning and execution, the student loan scheme would enhance educational opportunities and significantly contribute to Nigeria’s socio-economic development. They extended their full support to the federal government and anticipated positive impacts on the nation’s students and educational system.

This highly anticipated match will feature two undefeated teams and may serve as Lionel Messi’s final appearance at a World Cup.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Both teams arrive at this final after impressive tournament runs:

  • Argentina secured their place in the final through a dramatic semi-final victory over England. After trailing, Messi provided two late assists to lead a comeback win.

  • Spain earned their spot by defeating France 2-0, with goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro.

Tournament Form and Defensive Stats

The supercomputer’s prediction is largely based on the contrasting paths and defensive performances of the two finalists:

  • Spain has demonstrated significant defensive strength throughout the tournament, conceding only one goal thus far.

  • In contrast, Argentina has conceded seven goals and has relied on several late-match comebacks to advance.

  • While Argentina has remained unbeaten in 13 matches since their 2022 opener, their route to the 2026 final has been demanding, including extra-time victories against Cabo Verde and Switzerland.

If Spain succeeds, it will mark their second men’s World Cup title and their fifth major international trophy since 2008.

The Ultimate Respect: Scaloni Praises Messi And Embraces His Former Mentor In Heartwarming Pre-Final Moment!.

As Argentina prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup final against Spain this Sunday, head coach Lionel Scaloni has shared an emotional tribute to his captain, Lionel Messi. Speaking at a FIFA Fanatics event in New York City, Scaloni labeled the 39-year-old a “legend” and “pure history,” urging fans to cherish every moment of his play, as this is expected to be his final World Cup appearance. Messi, who joined Scaloni at the event alongside goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, also reflected on his lifelong passion for the game, noting that his approach to competition was shaped by growing up playing in the streets and neighborhoods long before facing the pressures of global stardom.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Argentina aims to defend the title they won in Qatar four years ago, though Scaloni is under no illusions regarding the difficulty of the task ahead. He identified Spain as a “great team” and the toughest opponent his squad has faced in the tournament thus far. While some might argue that Argentina’s experience in the 2022 final provides an edge, Scaloni dismissed this notion, noting that Spain’s roster possesses extensive experience from major stages, including European Championship and Nations League finals. The coach emphasized that his team’s resilience is rooted in their humble origins, where they learned to prioritize playing the game over worrying about outside pressure.

Mentor Meets Protégé

A poignant moment occurred during the event when Scaloni shared a warm embrace with Spain coach Luis de la Fuente. Their connection dates back to 2017, when De la Fuente served as an instructor during Scaloni’s studies for his UEFA Pro coaching license at the Spanish Football Federation’s academy. Despite their deep mutual admiration and shared tactical principles, both managers maintained that the friendship will be set aside when the match begins. “He knows me personally, but he doesn’t know what I’m thinking about football,” Scaloni remarked, while De la Fuente added, “We are great competitors, and we are happy to face each other”.

Political Earthquake! Rivers ADC Crisis Explodes As Embattled Aspirant Drags Party And INEC To Court!.

Legborsi Nwiabu, an African Democratic Congress (ADC) aspirant for the Khana Constituency I seat in the Rivers State House of Assembly, has filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt. Nwiabu alleges he was unlawfully excluded from the party’s primary election and has named the ADC, its declared candidate for the 2027 general election, Bright Nulee, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as defendants in the suit.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

During the hearing on Friday, ADC counsel Emenike Ebete requested the court’s permission to resolve the dispute through an out-of-court settlement, noting that a reconciliation committee had been established by the party. While the respondents did not oppose the application, Nwiabu’s counsel, Felix Beragbara, objected, stating that his client had not been notified of such a committee.

Presiding judge Justice Muhammed Turaki granted the request for an out-of-court settlement and adjourned the case until August 12, 2026, to allow time for reconciliation or to proceed with a hearing on the substantive suit.

Claims of Exclusion and Procedural Failure

According to Nwiabu’s legal team, the aspirant exhausted all internal party mechanisms before approaching the court. Beragbara provided the following details regarding the alleged irregularities:

  • The primary election was initially scheduled for May 21, 2026, and purportedly rescheduled for May 22, 2026.

  • Despite mobilizing agents and supporters across all 11 wards of Khana Constituency I, Nwiabu’s camp claims that no election was ever conducted.

  • The aspirant alleges that neither party officials nor INEC monitors were present at any voting center on the rescheduled date.

Nwiabu further claims that his subsequent petition to the party’s appeals committee for a fresh primary was ignored. He contends that the party proceeded to declare Bright Nulee as the official candidate and submitted his name to INEC without holding the required election, leading Nwiabu to challenge the legitimacy of the nomination in court.

Legal representatives for the ADC, the second respondent, and INEC declined to comment following the proceedings.
