However, there has been conflicting information regarding President Tinubu’s expected address at the National Assembly. The National Assembly had announced on Monday that it would hold a special joint session on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of continuous democracy in Nigeria. President Tinubu was expected to attend and deliver a speech highlighting the achievements of his administration and the progress of Nigeria’s democracy since the military handed over power in 1999. Other leaders, including state governors, former leaders of the country, and National Assembly members, were also expected to be in attendance.
This announcement was confirmed by the special adviser to the President on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday. He indicated that President Tinubu’s speech would focus on the accomplishments of his administration.
However, Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, issued a contradictory statement on Tuesday. He denied that President Bola Tinubu would address a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday, stating that the Office of the President was not involved in the planning of the event.
This conflicting information has created confusion about whether President Tinubu will indeed address the National Assembly as previously expected.
