Sources indicate that Lamorde’s remains will be repatriated to Nigeria on Monday for burial in accordance with Islamic customs.
According to a reliable source, Lamorde had accompanied his wife to Egypt for medical treatment and had opted for a procedure to address a kidney stone issue that had been causing him discomfort. Tragically, he passed away during the course of the procedure.
“The Federal Government is assisting in the arrangements to bring back his remains,” the source revealed.
Born on December 20, 1962, Lamorde had a distinguished career in the Nigerian Police, joining in 1986 and retiring as a Deputy Inspector General of Police in 2021. He served as the Chairman of the EFCC from 2011 to 2015.
Lamorde’s tenure at the EFCC saw him appointed as acting chairman on November 3, 2011, following the removal of Farida Waziri by former President Goodluck Jonathan. He was later confirmed as the third substantive chairman of the commission by the Senate on February 15, 2012.
