CSC Babawale Afolabi, the NSCDC’s National Public Relations Officer, relayed Dr. Audi’s message during the celebration of the third anniversary of the Special Female Squad. Dr. Audi emphasized that the creation of this squad was a strategic move to address the rising challenges of kidnapping and abduction in schools.
Dr. Audi highlighted the significant role of women in safeguarding their children, which has driven the dedication and enthusiasm of the Special Female Squad since its inception. He explained that the NSCDC identified vulnerabilities in many schools, such as lack of perimeter fencing and security measures, prompting the establishment of the all-female squad.
The Special Female Squad has been deployed in all 36 states of the Federation and the FCT, successfully thwarting over 48 kidnapping attempts and attacks against students and teachers. They engage in training and awareness programs on personal security techniques in schools and extend their activities to supporting the less privileged and visiting hospitals to provide moral and logistical assistance.
Dr. Audi commended the Special Female Squad for their dedication and urged them to remain focused on their mission to ensure the safety of schools. He emphasized collaboration with other security agencies and encouraged them to continue their community service initiatives, including distributing relief materials to hospitals and schools.
As the NSCDC marks the third anniversary of the Special Female Squad, Dr. Audi charged the officers to remain diligent and determined in their efforts to combat insecurity in schools and contribute to the nation’s safety and security.
