Tanko, a close associate of former presidential candidate Peter Obi, made the remark on Wednesday during an interview on a current affairs programme aired on Eagle 102.5 FM in Ilese-Ijebu, Ogun State.

He stressed that election results should be conclusively determined at polling units, rather than being dragged through lengthy court proceedings.

According to him, the true will of the people must be reflected from the grassroots, warning that excessive dependence on judicial intervention in electoral outcomes could weaken public trust in the democratic process.

“We don’t want to give any chance for us to end up in court at all,” Tanko said.

“Elections should be done and concluded at the polling units. We do not want to create any room for court cases whatsoever.

“Let us resolve it once and for all, determine the rightful winner, and move forward.”

Meanwhile, Tanko has also raised concerns over what he described as attempts by a splinter faction to falsely associate itself with the Obidient Movement.

In a statement, he insisted that the movement does not recognise any parallel leadership or structure within its fold.

He was reacting to a press conference held in Abuja by a group known as the Obidient Movement Rebrand, which reportedly announced the expulsion of both Peter Obi and Tanko.

Rejecting the claim, Tanko dismissed the group as illegitimate and said it has no authority or official connection to the Obidient Movement.

He further called on the media and the public to disregard the faction, accusing it of deliberately creating confusion.
