The development comes amid reports that the Super Eagles threatened to boycott their quarter-final clash against Algeria if their allowances were not settled. Journalist Tobi Adepoju, also known as Oganla Media, disclosed that a senior NFF official confirmed the CBN has processed the payments, ensuring that the players and officials will receive all bonuses once the transaction is completed.
Earlier reports indicated that unpaid win bonuses for matches against Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, and Mozambique had pushed the squad to the verge of industrial action. The players reportedly refused to train or travel to Marrakech ahead of the quarter-final match until the issue was resolved.
On the field, the Super Eagles have maintained an unbeaten run at AFCON 2025. They opened the tournament with a 2-1 win over Tanzania, followed by a 3-2 victory against Tunisia and a 3-1 success over Uganda, culminating in a 4-0 triumph against Mozambique in the round of 16. The team, coached by Eric Chelle, will face Algeria on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in Marrakech, with a place in the semi-finals at stake.
