According to Nivo News, a former aide to the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has leveled grave allegations against his former principal, accusing him of colluding with security operatives, shielding criminal elements, and facilitating engagements with notorious bandit leaders during his tenure as governor of Zamfara State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The allegations were made by Musa Muhammad Kamara, popularly known as Musa Kamarawa, who identified himself as a former Senior Special Assistant to Matawalle when he governed Zamfara State. Kamara made the claims during an interview with a Hausa-language media outlet, where he provided detailed accounts of events he said occurred while he served in government.

Kamara alleged that Matawalle maintained close ties with certain police officers who allegedly acted on his directives to eliminate perceived enemies while offering protection to selected individuals. He claimed these operatives were used selectively to suppress opposition and secure loyalty.

He further stated that his ordeal began in 2021 when security agencies questioned him over allegations that the Zamfara State Government procured vehicles for bandit leaders. Kamara said the inquiry followed public comments attributed to a cleric, Mallam Murtala Asada, who had alleged that government officials purchased vehicles for prominent bandits, including Bello Turji and Halilu Sububu.

According to Kamara, he admitted during questioning that vehicles were indeed provided, describing the move as part of a strategy adopted by the government at the time to engage armed groups. He claimed responsibility for sourcing replacement vehicles when one reportedly developed mechanical faults, adding that additional Hilux trucks were supplied.

Throughout the interview, Kamara repeatedly swore by the Holy Qur’an to affirm the authenticity of his claims, openly challenging Matawalle to publicly deny the allegations under the same oath if they were untrue.

He also alleged that after he began speaking out, efforts were made to silence him through the use of law enforcement agencies. Kamara claimed he was subjected to what he described as orchestrated media trials, asserting that cases brought against him failed repeatedly in court due to the absence of witnesses and evidence.

Dismissing suggestions that he still maintains ties with the Zamfara State Government or the current administration, Kamara stated that he severed all links with the government immediately after Matawalle left office and has had no dealings with the present leadership.

Kamara further alleged that the case against him was later transferred to the Federal High Court in Abuja, where it eventually collapsed. He claimed the court discharged the matter after prosecutors failed to establish any credible evidence.

Despite the dismissal of the case, Kamara said he remains in fear for his life, alleging that powerful forces want him silenced rather than seeking justice. He maintained that his safety remains uncertain as a result of the allegations he has made public.

As of the time of filing this report, Bello Mohammed Matawalle has not issued any public response to the accusations.
