The Super Eagles of Nigeria have moved up three spots to 38th in the latest FIFA men’s world ranking, released on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. According to Nivo News, the new ranking reflects a turbulent month for the national team, marked by moments of tension and relief.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

FIFA’s updated table was compiled after 149 matches were played across the globe since the last publication. Nigeria’s rise was influenced largely by their 4-1 victory over Gabon and the 1-1 draw with DR Congo, which later ended in a 4-3 penalty shoot-out loss during the African play-off series.

Although missing out on the 2026 World Cup still lingers as a painful setback for fans and players, the team’s recent performances provided enough momentum to boost their global standing. Nigeria now hold 1,502.46 points, placing them fifth in Africa behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt and Algeria.

Morocco continue to dominate the continent with 1,713.12 points, ranking 11th in the world. Senegal follow in 19th place with 1,648.07 points, Egypt stay 34th with 1,520.68, while Algeria remain close behind on 1,516.37 points. The competition around Nigeria is also tight, with Tunisia in 40th place on 1,497.13 points, followed by Ivory Coast and DR Congo on 1,489.59 and 1,442.50 respectively. Morocco maintain a comfortable 210.66-point lead over Nigeria within the African rankings.

According to Nivo News, overall shifts in the global table were driven by decisive 2026 World Cup qualifying matches across multiple confederations. Spain retain the world’s top position, with Argentina and France holding their close chase, while Brazil climbed two places to fifth, opening space for further movement among other teams.
