The attack, which occurred on Monday, also resulted in the death of the school’s vice principal, who was reportedly shot while attempting to prevent the gunmen from taking the students. Following the incident, the Federal Government ordered a coordinated security operation to fast-track the rescue of the abducted girls.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, acting on President Bola Tinubu’s directive, visited Kebbi State on Wednesday to condole with the affected community and review ongoing rescue efforts. His aircraft touched down at the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport in Birnin Kebbi, accompanied by APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and other senior government officials. Shettima described the abduction as a tragic and unacceptable event, assuring that the government would deploy every available national resource to secure the students’ release. He also praised security agencies for their swift response and reiterated that recovering the abducted girls remains one of President Tinubu’s highest priorities.
International concern has continued to rise over the mass abduction, with UNICEF among the organisations demanding the immediate and safe return of the students. The situation has also prompted President Tinubu to postpone his planned foreign trips to South Africa and Angola as the government intensifies its rescue operations.

According to sports analysts, Nigeria’s recent World Cup qualifying campaign ended in disappointment after a 4-3 penalty defeat to DR Congo in the African play-offs. The match had ended 1-1 after extra time, denying the country a return to the global stage following its absence from the Qatar 2022 tournament.
Speaking with Footy-Africa, Shorunmu urged the NFF to focus on future challenges and prioritize rebuilding the squad without delay. He emphasized that the federation must act swiftly to develop a strong strategy for the upcoming AFCON.
“What has happened is behind us now, and it is important for Nigerian football to look ahead,” Shorunmu said. “The Africa Cup of Nations is approaching, and proper planning and preparation are essential for the team to perform at its best.”
He noted that time is a critical factor, stressing that fans expect a determined response from the Super Eagles following recent setbacks. Shorunmu believes the players are aware of the nation’s expectations and will strive to redeem themselves at the continental tournament.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, Shorunmu acknowledged the widespread disappointment and blamed inadequate preparation for the result. “In terms of preparation, things were a little sloppy,” he said, urging the NFF to prioritize early planning for major competitions moving forward.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to kick off their 2025 AFCON campaign against Tanzania on December 23, before facing Tunisia on December 27 and concluding the group stage against Uganda on December 30 in pursuit of their fourth continental title.

Oshoma Blames Past PDP Leaders For Party Crisis, Says Wike Was Called In Too Late.
According to Nivo News, human rights activist Liborous Oshoma has attributed the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the failures of its past leaders. Speaking on Arise News, Oshoma accused Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike of destabilizing the party ahead of the 2027 elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Oshoma stated that the PDP turned to Wike for support after former leaders abandoned the party during its most critical moments. He explained, “I would not just start the crisis of PDP from 2023. I would first and foremost blame the past presidents that the platform of the PDP produced for abandoning the party when it needed them most. At that time, it suddenly dawned on them that there was no money to run the party. Some persons went to mortgage the party to Modu Sheriff. Atiku had left. Obasanjo had torn his PDP card. And then they quickly ran to Wike.”
He further argued that this move effectively “mortgaged the party’s future” to the then Rivers State governor without fully considering the repercussions. Highlighting the party’s legal disputes, Oshoma pointed to the prolonged conflict between the Federal High Court in Abuja and the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, noting, “It shows truly that something is wrong.”
Oshoma also criticized Wike for turning against PDP leaders he previously supported, stating, “You said you wanted Uche Secondus out, he went out. Atiku was your problem, Atiku had gone. Now Damagum came. You were in hot romance with him until now. Enough should be enough.”
On the contentious Ibadan convention, Oshoma condemned the persistent clashes between courts of coordinate jurisdiction, explaining, “It’s sad and unfortunate that at this day and time, we’re still having a ping-pong of judgments and court orders. When courts of coordinate jurisdiction clash, you pick and choose which to obey. In this case, the last court order, from Oyo State, was obeyed, and they went ahead with the convention.”
