COAS Shuaibu Launches Massive Recruitment Drive To Add 24,000 Soldiers To Nigerian Army.
According to Nivo News, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shuaibu, has unveiled an ambitious plan to recruit and train 24,000 additional soldiers to boost the Nigerian Army’s capacity as the nation faces escalating security challenges.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Shuaibu made the disclosure on Wednesday during an operational visit to the 1 Division headquarters in Kaduna, where he addressed officers ranging from second lieutenant to lieutenant colonel. The visit forms part of his nationwide assessment tour aimed at reinforcing operational readiness across all fronts.
He noted that the Army must significantly expand its manpower to match the scale and evolving nature of Nigeria’s security threats, stressing that the vast area of responsibility demands more personnel on the ground to counter emerging dangers effectively.
Shuaibu explained that 12,000 soldiers are expected to be trained within six months through three recently approved training institutions. With two training cycles, he added, the figure could rise to 24,000 new personnel.
He further revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has authorized the creation of new training centres strategically positioned to produce soldiers equipped for modern combat, advanced weapon systems and complex tactical operations.
The Army chief emphasised that the initiative is aimed not only at increasing troop numbers but at developing a well-prepared force capable of immediate deployment. He stressed the urgency of the moment, insisting that new recruits must be adequately trained, equipped and guided to confront the country’s multifaceted security concerns.
Shuaibu also highlighted that the training programme will cover a range of areas, including basic tactical operations, combat preparedness, discipline, mission planning and leadership development. These measures, he said, are geared toward maintaining the Army’s high professional standards.
He urged senior officers to mentor the incoming recruits to sustain a culture of discipline, ethics and operational excellence.
Reaffirming the Army’s “Soldier First” ethos, Shuaibu pledged that welfare initiatives, support systems and incentives for both new and serving personnel will be expanded to boost morale and enhance dedication to national security duties. He maintained that proper welfare remains central to ensuring that troops stay motivated, effective and mission-ready.

Massive Police Deployment As Kanu Judgment Sparks Public Reactions In Abia.

The intensified security deployment is reportedly precautionary, as Kanu’s family residence is located close to the Government House. By mid-afternoon, heavily armed police officers were stationed at both the main entrance and exit gates, drawing the attention of passersby and motorists, many of whom slowed down to take in the unusual security presence.
Authorities appear to have acted to forestall any potential unrest or spontaneous demonstrations in reaction to the verdict. Despite the heightened security, the city of Umuahia remained largely calm, although the atmosphere was noticeably tense, with residents quietly discussing the ruling.
Reactions among locals were mixed, with some expressing dissatisfaction while others openly opposed the court’s decision. Observations across Abia State indicate that public order was maintained, with no incidents reported.

She explained that her success came from a mindset of perseverance, saying she realized she “needed to stop walking through the doors and start breaking down the walls.”
Reflecting on her early career, the singer said she relied solely on her talent and determination, without financial backing. She recounted disturbing incidents in which executives attempted to touch her inappropriately during meetings and studio sessions. “Many times from business meetings to studio sessions to even winning certain awards, you meet maybe the managing director or any other executive, and they are trying to rub your thighs under the table. And I was just a teen. My grandpa is rubbing my legs and I can’t speak because I’m in shock,” she said.
Alade emphasized that despite the harassment, she made a conscious decision to continue pursuing her passion. “If music was what I wanted to do because the sexual harassment was becoming too rampant, something in me told me to keep pushing my talent. So, I still showed up. If a door was left open for me, I would walk in. If it was shut in my face, I would walk away,” she added.
Her revelation sheds light on the challenges young female artists face in the music industry, highlighting the resilience and courage required to succeed.
