The 42-year-old, who serves as the MD/CEO of Franc CJ Ibemesi Nigeria Ltd, was detained in the early hours of Saturday, November 15, at Daisy Garden Hotel in Isolo, Lagos. Operatives subsequently raided one of his warehouses at Pius Ezeobi Street, recovering 42 jumbo bags and four cartons of Loud cannabis, weighing a total of 1,762.8 kilograms. Large sums of foreign currency—including $11,600, £2,000, €2,200, and 50 Canadian dollars—were also seized.
The Lagos operation was part of a week-long nationwide crackdown. In Osun State, NDLEA officers intercepted a syndicate operating in the Orita-Apeje forest reserve, seizing 11,135 kilograms of processed skunk from two trucks and arresting seven suspects. Edo State saw multiple seizures totaling 1,902.1 kilograms of skunk, including arrests made along roads and at checkpoints.
Further operations in Ogun, Taraba, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Kwara, and Lagos states led to the confiscation of skunk, methamphetamine, tramadol, and other narcotics, with several arrests reported in each location. Notable arrests included Ahmed Isyaku Nda at Aliyu Mustapha International Airport, Yola, with 396,000 tramadol capsules, and multiple Lagos-based suspects apprehended with Canadian and Ghana Loud cannabis.
NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier-General Mohammed Buba Marwa (retd), commended the officers involved, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to maintaining a “balanced approach” in its nationwide War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign. Educational and awareness initiatives have also been conducted in schools and worship centers to curb drug abuse.

Oshoma Blames Past PDP Leaders For Party Crisis, Says Wike Was Called In Too Late.
According to Nivo News, human rights activist Liborous Oshoma has attributed the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the failures of its past leaders. Speaking on Arise News, Oshoma accused Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike of destabilizing the party ahead of the 2027 elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Oshoma stated that the PDP turned to Wike for support after former leaders abandoned the party during its most critical moments. He explained, “I would not just start the crisis of PDP from 2023. I would first and foremost blame the past presidents that the platform of the PDP produced for abandoning the party when it needed them most. At that time, it suddenly dawned on them that there was no money to run the party. Some persons went to mortgage the party to Modu Sheriff. Atiku had left. Obasanjo had torn his PDP card. And then they quickly ran to Wike.”
He further argued that this move effectively “mortgaged the party’s future” to the then Rivers State governor without fully considering the repercussions. Highlighting the party’s legal disputes, Oshoma pointed to the prolonged conflict between the Federal High Court in Abuja and the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, noting, “It shows truly that something is wrong.”
Oshoma also criticized Wike for turning against PDP leaders he previously supported, stating, “You said you wanted Uche Secondus out, he went out. Atiku was your problem, Atiku had gone. Now Damagum came. You were in hot romance with him until now. Enough should be enough.”
On the contentious Ibadan convention, Oshoma condemned the persistent clashes between courts of coordinate jurisdiction, explaining, “It’s sad and unfortunate that at this day and time, we’re still having a ping-pong of judgments and court orders. When courts of coordinate jurisdiction clash, you pick and choose which to obey. In this case, the last court order, from Oyo State, was obeyed, and they went ahead with the convention.”

Promoter Warns Joshua: Victory Over Paul Crucial For Fury Clash.
British-Nigerian heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has been issued a stern warning ahead of his December return to the ring, with promoter Frank Warren stating that any hopes of facing Tyson Fury will vanish if Joshua fails to defeat YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Joshua is scheduled to fight Paul on December 19 in what many analysts describe as a risky encounter. Warren emphasized that Joshua cannot afford any mistakes, noting the pressure on him following a painful loss to Daniel Dubois last year, where he was knocked down multiple times before the fight was stopped in the fifth round.
“It’s how he beats him, if he beats him. AJ is coming off a significant loss. Five or six times he was on the floor in that fight. It was a tough night for him,” Warren said, highlighting the scrutiny Joshua’s upcoming performance will face.
Despite previous setbacks, plans remain for Joshua to compete in Riyadh in February, with a potential fight against Fury in September still on the long-term roadmap under Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh. Warren insists the immediate focus is simply to get past Paul.
While Joshua is widely seen as the favourite, Warren acknowledged Paul’s growth in the sport. “Jake Paul has faced criticism for choosing easy opponents, but he’s a professional who trains hard. Facing a two-time world champion and Olympic gold medallist is a massive step up, but it’s a fight that will generate huge attention given his huge following in America,” Warren noted.

AI Set To Transform Fertility Care, Experts Warn Government Must Act Fast.
Medical experts have called on the Nigerian government to take urgent action to address the nation’s deteriorating healthcare system, while also highlighting the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in fertility and reproductive medicine.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The appeal came during the 2nd annual Sir Mobolaji Bank-Anthony Memorial Lecture held on Wednesday at Ayinke House, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). Guest lecturer and consultant obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Lateef Akinola, criticized years of mismanagement of national resources, noting that it is unacceptable for Nigeria to struggle with providing quality healthcare despite its economic capacity.
Dr. Akinola drew attention to the ongoing resident doctors’ strike, now in its second week, describing it as a symptom of long-standing neglect of medical personnel welfare. He explained that many teaching and tertiary hospitals have become partially inactive, with only a limited number of staff and consultants keeping services operational. He also lamented the impact on patients, noting that Ayinke House, once a thriving medical centre, now experiences reduced patient turnout.
Highlighting the financial barriers to private healthcare, Dr. Akinola warned that many Nigerians are at risk of worsening health outcomes. He urged the government to prioritize investments across all tiers of healthcare, emphasizing the development and retention of medical personnel through improved pay, housing, and working conditions. He also noted that Nigeria spends roughly five per cent of its GDP on health, far below the recommended 15 per cent, stressing that closing this gap is essential for building a healthier, more productive nation.
While the lecture focused on AI’s role in fertility treatment, Dr. Akinola noted that AI’s applications extend beyond medicine into sectors like e-commerce, social media, and education, enhancing precision, automation, and efficiency.
Dr. (Mrs.) T.O. Otun, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ayinke House, used the occasion to honour the philanthropist Sir Mobolaji Bank-Anthony, whose donation established the hospital. She recounted that the hospital initially had limited space, only two theatres, and a small maternal care chalet. Following renovations between 2010 and 2019, Ayinke House expanded to 170 beds and now includes ICUs, upgraded laboratories, ultrasound units, and a large pool of consultants.
Funmi Bank-Anthony, representing the Bank-Anthony family, described the lecture as insightful and reiterated the family’s commitment to preserving Sir Mobolaji’s legacy, including further support for Ayinke House.
Speaking on behalf of LASUTH’s Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adetokunbo Fabamwo, Professor Adekoya said the lecture aimed not only to honour Sir Mobolaji Bank-Anthony but also to inspire others to contribute meaningfully to the healthcare sector. He stressed that celebrating such legacies should encourage individuals and organisations to support healthcare development across Nigeria.
