Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Akpabio described the arrival of Prof. Nentawe as National Chairman as a turning point for APC in Plateau, citing the influx of high-profile defectors as evidence of renewed party strength. A statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Anietie Ekong, quoted Akpabio as saying, “My ears have heard and my eyes have seen that from today, the entire Plateau is APC. Come 2027, Plateau shall deliver the APC.”

Akpabio also emphasized the party’s commitment to peace, assuring residents that President Tinubu is dedicated to ending the violence and displacements that have affected communities in Plateau. “Too many lives have been lost. Too many homes destroyed. Plateau deserves peace, and anyone who wants to govern this state must be committed to peace,” he stated.

All three Senate seats will be APC. All federal and state positions will be APC. The people have spoken, APC or nothing,” he declared.

The defectors were formally welcomed into the party with the presentation of APC flags and symbols, with assurances of equal rights and privileges. The rally was attended by prominent political figures, including Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, and Kogi State Deputy Governor Salifu Joel.

Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has publicly criticized the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, following comments suggesting she requires assistance. According to Nivo News, Rollas, in an Instagram statement on Thursday, claimed that several colleagues are aware of Daniels’ health situation but have allegedly spoken negatively about her behind her back.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Rollas cited incidents on movie sets, witnessed by senior actors such as Okey Bakassi, Chinyere Wilfred, and Jide Kosoko, as evidence that Daniels needed support. He also referenced a prior occasion when Ned Nwoko reportedly raised concerns about Daniels’ health during a private event. The AGN president further criticized Daniels’ mother, Rita, questioning her ambition to become AGN president while highlighting her daughter’s welfare.

Rollas denied claims that Nwoko has been funding the AGN and expressed disapproval over bringing Daniels’ health matters into public discourse.

In response, Daniels accused Rollas of harboring resentment due to her refusal to allow him to bring women to her home for swimming lessons. She further claimed that Rollas has failed to achieve anything meaningful as AGN president and instead prioritizes personal gain through visits to high-profile individuals.

Daniels also defended her mother, emphasizing her contributions to the industry and condemning Rollas for attempting to discredit her. She wrote that Rollas’ actions, including public disparagement and financial misconduct under the guise of serving actors, reflect poorly on his leadership. Daniels added that her mother possesses the experience and integrity to effectively represent actors in the guild.

“Alex Iwobi may have posted the picture innocently, but as a professional playing in Europe, you should know better two days before a crucial game,” Mikel said. “You don’t want that negativity surrounding the team. If I were captain, I would have asked him to remove it immediately.”

Despite the controversy, Nigeria secured a hard-fought semi-final victory against Gabon after extra time, while DR Congo advanced past Cameroon in the other playoff match. The Super Eagles’ World Cup qualification journey concluded following a 4-3 defeat to DR Congo in the final playoff.

The Federal Government has formally requested that the court impose the death penalty on Kanu, citing the seriousness of his offences. The plea was made by the government’s lead counsel, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), immediately after the verdict was delivered.

Kanu’s conviction comes after a lengthy trial in which the prosecution presented evidence, including recordings, statements, and broadcast materials, which it argued demonstrated his role in inciting violence and orchestrating attacks against security personnel.

Speaking in court following the judgment, Awomolo emphasized that Kanu’s actions were part of a deliberate and destabilizing pattern of conduct and not isolated incidents. He argued that the severity of the offences warranted the maximum penalty under Nigerian law and insisted that Kanu should not be shown leniency.
