Fayose Mocks Oyo Court Over PDP Convention Order, Says Desperation Has Taken Over.
Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has dismissed the order issued by an Oyo State High Court permitting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to proceed with its national convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, Justice A. L. Akintola had on Monday granted an ex parte application filed by Folahan Malomo Adelabi, allowing the convention to hold despite an earlier ruling by a Federal High Court in Abuja restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from monitoring the exercise.
Reacting on Tuesday, Fayose described the court’s decision as “an Ibadan judicial and political awada kerikeri of a hand-to-mouth judge,” calling it a reflection of desperation within certain elements of the party. He argued that even the least informed Nigerians would understand that a State High Court cannot overrule or act as an appellate court over the Federal High Court.
Fayose criticised the move as a deliberate attempt by those he described as “undertakers waiting to bury the PDP” to subvert due process. He said, “How do you go to a State High Court to get an ex parte order asking INEC to monitor a national convention that a Federal High Court had ruled should not be monitored? It appears desperation has affected their sense. That order is dead on arrival and cannot be obeyed by anyone, including INEC.”
He also called on the National Judicial Council (NJC) to take disciplinary action against Justice Akintola for granting the order despite being aware of Justice James Omotosho’s ruling on the same issue on October 31, 2025. Fayose described such judicial actions as harmful to the integrity of the judiciary.
The former governor further expressed optimism that the PDP, now under the leadership of Acting National Chairman Mohammed Abdulrahman, could still recover from internal crises and begin healing from what he described as “the injuries inflicted by the vampires within.”
