NIS Storms Rivers, Arrests 90 Illegal Immigrants In Major Crackdown.

According to Nivo News, the Comptroller of NIS, Rivers State Command, CIS Yabagi Abdulmajeed, made this known during a courtesy visit to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Benibo Anabrabra, in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
Anabrabra commended the NIS for its proactive measures and urged the command to ensure full implementation of the recently reviewed Expatriate Administration System (EAS) Policy, which includes the Expatriate Quota (EQ) programme. He explained that the policy aims to enhance technology and knowledge transfer between expatriates and Nigerians, fostering local content development and economic growth.
He noted that the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara would continue to support and collaborate with the NIS and other security agencies to strengthen border management and ensure the safety of residents across the state.
“The Expatriate Quota programme is crucial in promoting local manpower development. By allowing Nigerians to work closely with expatriates, it ensures seamless technology transfer and capacity building that will benefit our industries and economy,” Anabrabra stated.
In his remarks, CIS Abdulmajeed revealed that the arrested individuals were undocumented immigrants apprehended during operations in various parts of the state. He cautioned Nigerians against harbouring or aiding illegal migrants, emphasizing that such actions could pose serious security risks.
Abdulmajeed further disclosed that the NIS has introduced several reforms in visa and passport issuance to enhance service delivery and curb irregularities within the system.
