“‘I’m Married!’ – Govt Aide Explains Job Decision Amid Jaw-Dropping ₦500 Billion Lawsuit”
The Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Media, Success Ossai, has explained his decision to offer Comfort Emmason a monthly salary of ₦500,000. Emmason was removed from a Lagos-to-Uyo flight on August 10 after allegedly refusing to switch off her phone as instructed by crew members. The situation escalated when she reportedly became physically aggressive, striking a flight attendant, and was subsequently restrained and escorted off the aircraft at Murtala Mohammed International Airport.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Following the incident, Ibom Air imposed a lifetime ban on Emmason, and she was arraigned and remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre. She was later released after the intervention of the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo (SAN).
After her release, Ossai announced via Instagram that Emmason had been offered a monthly salary of ₦500,000, along with additional benefits including flight tickets, accommodation at a five-star hotel, a guided tour, and a ticket to the Delta Social Media Summit scheduled for August 28 in Asaba. In an interview, Ossai emphasized that the gesture was a personal decision, not sanctioned by the state government, aimed at helping Emmason reintegrate into society.
Dismissing speculations of a romantic interest, Ossai stated, “I’m a married man and a faithful man. I can never get myself involved with such a thing. I am just offering harmless assistance to her.” He also rejected claims that his offer could encourage unruly behavior among air passengers. On extending the support despite Emmason not being from Delta State, he added, “In Delta State, we don’t discriminate. We offer help to people, whether you are from Delta State or not. We are first Nigerians before anything else.”
Meanwhile, public interest lawyer Ayodele Ademiluyi has filed a ₦500 billion lawsuit against the Federal Government, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, and other stakeholders at the Federal High Court in Lagos. The suit, marked FHC/L/CS/1632/25, names as respondents the President of Nigeria, the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo (SAN), the NCAA, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Ibom Air, ValueJet, the Nigerian Correctional Service, King Wasiu Ayinde, the Nigerian Police Force, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, the state’s Attorney-General, and the Airline Operators of Nigeria.
Ademiluyi said the action aims to defend public interest and hold aviation stakeholders accountable, highlighting systemic issues in Nigeria’s aviation sector. “Our aviation system needs a complete overhauling. We cannot allow impunity to reign or degenerate into a situation where someone can stop a plane with their bare hands and walk away without consequence,” he said. Ademiluyi criticized the appointment of the musician Kwam 1 as a brand ambassador, describing it as sending the wrong message about accountability. He also accused the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development and the Airline Operators of Nigeria of partiality in handling the Emmason incident, stressing that the case represents broader institutional concerns rather than individual disputes.
