₦48bn Scandal: APC Dares Wike to Publish NDDC Report, Says Allegation Against Amaechi’s Wife Is Smear Tactic
The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has slammed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over his recent allegations against Dame Judith Amaechi, wife of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Wike had claimed that Mrs. Amaechi received ₦48 billion from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to train women in the region, further alleging that former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, helped shield her.
In response, Darlington Nwauju, Publicity Secretary of the APC in Rivers State (aligned with the Amaechi camp), dismissed the claims as baseless and challenged Wike to push for the public release of the NDDC forensic audit report to substantiate his allegations.
Nwauju condemned Wike’s repeated attacks on political opponents’ families, describing them as signs of disrespect for family values and womanhood.
“We sympathize with Nigerians who, in just 48 hours, have been bombarded with a cocktail of lies, half-truths, and contradictions. The latest is Wike’s dramatic claim that he would resign if the NDDC audit report is released and doesn’t indict Dame Judith Amaechi,” the statement read.
“This says a lot about his character. His constant habit of dragging other people’s wives into political mudslinging reflects not only a disregard for family values but also an apparent lack of respect for women—including, it seems, his own wife.”
Nwauju challenged Wike to make the full NDDC audit report public, urging Nigerians to judge the facts for themselves.
He added, “While at it, Wike should also publish the list of NDDC contracts and disbursements that benefited him and his associates, especially given how he’s using 27 state lawmakers to wage a self-serving political war against the Rivers State Government.”
He described the audit report as a tool that was initially “choreographed to intimidate and exclude other Niger Delta stakeholders from the NDDC, allowing for personal micromanagement of the commission.”
Nwauju noted that relevant documents from the NDDC probe are available in the archives of the National Assembly, including testimonies from the public hearings held in June and July 2020.
In a final jab, Nwauju mockingly suggested that APC’s national leadership should consider appointing Wike as the party’s spokesperson or as Director-General of the 2027 Presidential Campaign during the upcoming NEC meeting on July 24, 2025.
“That way, Nigerians can finally assess Wike’s popularity and determine whether he is an asset—or a moral liability—to the APC,” he said
