Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has directed a comprehensive investigation into allegations made by a retired Superintendent of Police who appeared in a viral video decrying his retirement benefits.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The officer, who served for 35 years and retired on October 1, 2023, expressed deep frustration over what he described as a meagre payout. He claimed that the Nigeria Police Pension Board approved a total benefit of just N3 million—comprising N1 million in accrued arrears since his retirement and N2 million as his terminal benefit.

Following the viral outcry, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, announced on Thursday that the IGP had ordered the NPF Pensions Limited to urgently verify the claims, investigate any potential lapses, and take appropriate corrective measures.

Egbetokun acknowledged the ongoing reforms in the pension system but emphasized that feedback like the retired officer’s is essential to closing existing gaps and improving welfare for both serving and retired personnel.

“The Nigeria Police Force is not indifferent to the plight of its pensioners,” the statement said. “The IGP considers their welfare a top priority and recognises the importance of a robust and fair pension administration in sustaining morale and institutional trust.”

The police chief reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the welfare of officers, past and present, is not only protected but enhanced, stressing that the system must reflect the value of the sacrifices made by those who served.

Tension In Abuja As JAMB Officials Storm Out Of House Of Reps Meeting

A dramatic scene unfolded at the National Assembly on Wednesday when officials of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) walked out during an investigative session with the House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education and Examination Bodies.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Nivo News, the lawmakers had summoned the JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, to present certain documents before the committee. However, Oloyede was absent and sent a representative, Director Mufutau Bello, who appeared alongside other top officials of the Board.

Tension arose when Bello reportedly insisted that journalists should not be present during his presentation, arguing that the documents contained sensitive information. The committee members, however, rejected his request, insisting that the session was a public hearing and that the Board had no authority to determine how parliamentary proceedings should be conducted.

The disagreement quickly escalated, leading Bello to order his team to walk out of the session, an action that left the lawmakers visibly shocked.

In reaction, the committee directed the Sergeant-at-Arms to arrest the JAMB officials, but they had already exited the National Assembly complex before the order could be executed.

Following the incident, the committee issued an ultimatum, mandating JAMB Registrar Professor Oloyede to appear in person before next Tuesday to present the required documents. Lawmakers warned that failure to comply could result in the issuance of a warrant of arrest.

According to Nivo News, popular Nigerian rapper Oladips has alleged that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) collected ₦10 million from him before granting his release following his arrest in 2024.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The artist made this revelation during an interview on the Trending podcast, where he recounted his experience during the five days he spent in EFCC custody after being arrested in a midnight raid at his estate last November.

Oladips explained that he was detained alongside several neighbours on suspicion of internet fraud but maintained that nothing incriminating was discovered against him. He expressed frustration over the alleged extortion, describing his ordeal as a reflection of the country’s flawed system.

“It’s just one smelling place. They packed us there like sardines and gave us nonsense food. Funny enough, it was Zlatan that was sending me food. He’s more like family,” Oladips shared. “I wasn’t even supposed to be there. They didn’t find anything on me, not even a single thing, and they still collected ₦10 million before they released me.”

When asked if he would take legal action against the agency, Oladips responded rhetorically, “Who is my father? It’s just me and my truth. I don’t even know how the system works. They know I’m saying the truth. They collected money from me without finding anything on me. What was the money for? What was all that stress for? Nigeria just happened to me.”
