According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, operatives stormed an 80-room hotel on Victoria Island, Lagos—disguised as a legitimate hospitality business—and discovered 589 bags of Canadian Loud, a potent cannabis strain. The drugs weighed 417.3 kilograms and are valued at ₦1.042 billion on the street.
The operation, carried out between Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26, 2025, led to the arrest of three suspects: Eze Ayitu, Ofuokwu Samuel, and Emmanuel Ameh. Two other individuals identified as Noble Philip and Kenneth remain at large.
Additionally, NDLEA recovered suspected proceeds from the illicit trade, including several vehicles such as a Toyota Prado Jeep, a Toyota Sienna, a Volkswagen delivery van, a Kia Cerato, and a Dodge Grand Caravan. They also seized 74 new television sets, 10 used ones, and 13 refrigerators from the premises operating under the names The Hook Hotel, Caesar Hotel, and Caesar Lounge, located at 16 Waziri Ibrahim Street, off Elsie Femi Pearse Street, Victoria Island.
In a separate but equally significant operation in Jigawa State, NDLEA operatives intercepted a Toyota Sienna transporting large quantities of opioids along the Kano-Ringim Road. Two suspects, Abba Ibrahim and Shuaibu Umar, were arrested with 200,000 tramadol tablets and 217,500 pregabalin capsules.
A swift follow-up in Kano led to the arrest of 41-year-old supplier Jamilu Muhammad at his residence. Authorities recovered an additional 1,584,000 tramadol pills hidden in an 18-seater Nissan bus and a room within his home, bringing the total seized opioids to a staggering 2,001,500 pills.
The Agency also reported the interception of cocaine concealed in body cream destined for Saudi Arabia and the arrest of three Ghanaian women involved in cross-border drug trafficking.
