  • The collapse occurred near the Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu’s palace, around 11 a.m. The immediate cause of the collapse was attributed to ongoing renovation work being carried out on the residential building.
  • The building had been previously marked by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) for evacuation before it collapsed.
  • Emergency responders from the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA), Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Nigeria Police, and others rushed to the scene to rescue trapped victims.
  • All 10 trapped individuals, comprising seven adult males and two females, were successfully rescued from the rubble through a joint effort of emergency responders.
  • The rescued victims received pre-medical care from agency paramedics at the Iga Iduganran Primary Healthcare Centre.
  • As of 3:30 p.m., all trapped victims had been rescued, and they were receiving further medical care at the healthcare center.
  • The collapsed building was being demolished entirely at the time of the report, and the adjacent building would undergo integrity and material testing.
