FG Unveils Selection Process For ₦50,000 Presidential Grant Beneficiaries
The Federal Government has revealed the method by which Nigerians eligible for the ₦50,000 Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme will be selected, affirming that beneficiaries will be chosen randomly and digitally from the pool of applicants.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Implemented through the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment, the grant aims to support small business owners across various sectors without repayment obligations. The selection process will be entirely digital, ensuring transparency and efficiency. Applicants will undergo verification digitally, and disbursements will occur automatically for those who pass the screening, eliminating the need for physical intervention.
Out of the 3.6 million applicants, only 1 million will be selected as beneficiaries. The scheme prioritizes specific demographics, aiming to allocate 70% of the grants to women and youths, 10% to people with disabilities, and 5% to senior citizens, with the remaining 15% distributed to other demographics.
The ministry clarified that the selection process is random and automated, without any human intervention, ensuring fairness and impartiality. Applicants must undergo verification of their National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN) to qualify.
Addressing concerns about the number of beneficiaries, the ministry explained that the one million threshold aligns with the budget allocation for nano businesses. Despite the rigorous verification process, which has been conducted in batches to minimize errors, only those who meet the criteria and pass the verification will receive the grant.
With applications closed since April 17, disbursements are expected to resume at the end of May, marking the next phase of support for small businesses across the 774 local government areas of Nigeria.
