The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has raised concerns over the lack of preparation by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) for today’s local government election in the state.
Addressing journalists at his residence in Ibadan North Local Government Area, Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District, expressed dismay over reports of late arrival of electoral materials in several parts of the state.
He highlighted numerous irregularities that have marred the election process, emphasizing that these issues indicate a lack of readiness on the part of OYSIEC.
Complaints about delayed arrival of materials have been reported from various areas, including Iseyin, Okeho, Ayete, and Idikan Onibata in Ward 4 and Ward 5 of Ibadan North West Local Government Area.
Alli stressed the urgency of the situation, noting that significant delays in the arrival of materials raise questions about OYSIEC’s preparedness or potential ulterior motives.
