Idris Ibrahim, the board’s official responsible for controlling intoxicants, revealed this development to journalists over the weekend, stating that the alcoholic beverages were confiscated last Thursday at Kwanar Dangora village along the Kano-Kaduna expressway.

Ibrahim explained that the Hisbah operatives had been monitoring the vehicle’s movement from Kaduna until it entered Kano territory.

“We intercepted the vehicle at Kwanar Dangora village, and although the driver attempted to flee, our operatives apprehended him,” Ibrahim stated.

He emphasized that the sale and consumption of beer are illegal in Kano State, indicating that the driver would be taken to court after providing his statement.

Ibrahim further mentioned that the Hisbah team responsible for managing intoxicants was awaiting further instructions from the Hisbah management.

Additionally, the Hisbah arrested 15 young women for alleged prostitution during operations conducted in various parts of Kano City.

Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen, the board’s Deputy Commander-General, confirmed the arrests, stating that some of the suspected prostitutes had previously been apprehended and prosecuted but persisted in engaging in the illicit trade.

“It is regrettable that some of these women travel from their states and countries to Kano to engage in prostitution and other immoral activities. They roam the streets of Kano engaging in various illicit activities,” Aminuddeen expressed.

He urged the public to continue reporting such activities to enable the state to maintain its integrity.

“However, some of these girls also require assistance and prayers because, upon interaction, it becomes evident that they find themselves in these circumstances due to hardships,” Aminuddeen added.

According to reports from Sahara Reporters, approximately 10 EFCC personnel reached Polling Unit 003, Ward 06, in Ikogosi, Ekiti West Local Government Area, at about 9:05 a.m., shortly after the polls opened.

While the EFCC did not immediately clarify the specific reason for their arrival, their deployment occurred during a period of intense scrutiny regarding potential voter inducement across the state. The polling unit currently serves 668 registered voters. At the time of this report, the agents remained on-site to monitor the proceedings and consult with security forces; notably, there were no accounts of arrests or interruptions to the voting process.

This intervention follows multiple warnings issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), various civil society organizations, and anti-graft bodies regarding electoral malpractices, including vote-buying.
