reports that Wike made the remarks on Wednesday while inspecting ongoing road projects in Karu, Apo-Karshi, and Kubwa in Abuja.

He explained that his visit to the APC chairman was purely personal and should not be interpreted as a political move, as some have suggested.

Wike stressed that he sees no reason to justify every private meeting or friendship, noting that many of such relationships predate their current political affiliations.

According to him, political differences should not erase long-standing personal and professional relationships.

“I don’t play politics of enmity. We were colleagues before he became APC chairman. So must I hide whenever I see him?” he said.

“What matters to me is the work I am doing for my people.”

He added that both he and Yilwatda had known each other for years and previously worked together in government, arguing that their current party differences should not prevent cordial interaction.

The FCT minister further disclosed that the APC chairman had attempted several times to formally meet him but was unable to do so due to his tight schedule. This, he said, prompted him to pay a personal visit instead.

Wike maintained that his focus remains on delivering infrastructure projects and fulfilling his mandate rather than engaging in political distractions.

He added that while public commentary on political issues is inevitable, he would continue prioritising governance and service delivery over controversies.
