2027: Tinubu Has No Match, Opposition Alliance Will Collapse – Support Group Declares

Operating under the platform ‘Shehi and Matawalle Project for Tinubu 2027 Mandate,’ the group described the opposition alliance—which reportedly includes former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and ex-Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai—as “a gathering doomed to fail.”
Speaking at the inauguration of the group’s North-West zonal and state executives on Saturday in Kaduna, the Publicity Secretary, Auwal Mohammed, said the alliance lacked ideological substance and was merely driven by desperation to dislodge President Tinubu.
“That so-called coalition is nothing but a political jamboree—it will not stand the test of time,” Mohammed told reporters.
He credited Tinubu’s leadership and policy direction under the Renewed Hope Agenda with repositioning Nigeria’s economy for sustainable growth.
“President Bola Tinubu has displayed remarkable leadership, courage, and foresight. His economic policies are already yielding tangible results,” he added.
Also speaking, the group’s Zonal Coordinator, Babangida Damba, said the president deserves re-election based on his decisive reforms and pro-poor social investments. Damba highlighted fuel subsidy removal, exchange rate unification, rural electrification, and road construction as clear signs of a transformative leadership.
“Although the subsidy removal was initially painful, it’s now generating long-term benefits. Government revenue has increased, and those funds are being reinvested in infrastructure and human capital development,” he stated.
Damba urged the newly inaugurated executives to mobilise, educate, and sustain support for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
In his remarks, the Zonal Secretary, Dr. Ahmad Hashim, described the Shehi and Matawalle Project as a well-structured political movement aimed at ensuring continuity and deepening the gains of Tinubu’s leadership.
“This is more than a campaign—it’s a strategic vehicle for political consolidation,” Hashim said.
He noted that the project enjoys solid grassroots backing, particularly due to the influence of key figures like former Zamfara Governor and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, and former Governor Abdulazeez Yari.
“These two statesmen are pillars of Northern politics. Their track records in governance, unity, and national development are widely respected. They’ve earned their place through years of dedicated public service,” Hashim concluded.
